NU-WAY ELECTRONICS offers GPAX ® component packaging service for automatic PCB insertion
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILLINOIS: Nu-Way Electronics, Inc., Chicago area based value-added stocking distributor specializing in electronic components, has announced their new GPAX ® service for packaging odd-form circuit components for automatic assembly on to printed circuit boards. The packaging is a form of Tape and Reel which allows automatic handling of odd-form components which cannot be handled with conventional Tape and Reel methods. The parts are restrained in the containers with a clear plastic "tape". Both SMT and thru-hole components are accommodated. If parts to be automatically inserted exhibit inconsistency, space restraints, inflexible feeders, inadequate packaging or insufficient reel quantities, they are a candidate for GPAX. GPAX is another service of Nu-Way Electronics, who provides electronic component distribution, lead forming, cutting, standard Tape & Reel packaging, and services for pre-board processing, plus custom assembly and subassembly of electromechanical products. GPAX is an efficient replacement for tube packaging. Pre-punched tape technology combined with the unique GPAX packaging permits controlled insertion of varying sized and shaped components. Since the component is oriented and the leads are precisely registered within the tape package, the extra registration step required prior to part placement on the PCB is eliminated. A standard interlocking tape and reel feeder can feed the complete range of tape widths and pitch settings with simple adjustments. If a component is redesigned, the feeder does not have to be retooled or replaced since they are actually tape feeders, not component feeders. GPAX tape and reel technology has a large quantity-per-reel capacity with the ability to splice supply reel leaders and trailers. This makes it possible to run the feeder continuously in production. Nu-Way Electronics recently moved to new facilities located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, near Chicago's O'Hare Airport. Phone and Fax numbers remain the same. Nu-Way Electronics serves Midwest and National Manufacturers. Bill Aldeen, President of Nu-Way Electronics, who made the announcement, said: "In keeping with our growth, the enhancement of our web site and email capability enables us to better respond to our expanded services and customer base. We have come a long way in component sales and processing since our beginning in 1975. We not only distribute components, but we also provide complete Tape and Reel service; perform lead forming and trimming; and assemble electromechanical devices in our value-added operations. In 1994, we introduced the innovative reel recycling program."
